How Receipt Bank works with Lock Dates in Xero

If you have the Adviser user role in Xero, you can set a lock date to stop changes being made to transactions during a past period.

After you set a lock date, users can't add or edit transactions in Xero if the transaction date is earlier than the lock date.

In your Receipt Bank account:

Any items dated prior to that lock date can be published from Receipt Bank to Xero as:

  • Draft bills
  • Expense Claims

(this is in accordance with Xero's processes).

Any items dated prior to that lock date cannot be published from RB to Xero as:

  • Awaiting approval bills
  • Spend Money transactions against any bank accounts.

You'll get the below error message if you try:

In your Xero account:
